Cabinet Office. Newly Hired Cantergiani: "Mayor Commissioned by the Democratic Party"

The part-time contract, as stated in the resolution published yesterday, will last until June 20, 2029; 26,691 euros gross per year, for a total of 105,571 euros. With the role of communications services official, Cantergiani is called - among other things - to "support the mayor's cabinet in institutional relations and in relations with citizens". A task that on paper is standard practice, but in the climate that is currently felt represents something more.

The news comes in fact the day after the meeting of the entire center-left coalition, which together with the mayor wanted to find a common communication line, after the rift with Max Mara and the withdrawal of the group from the Polo della Moda project. A decision apparently irrevocable, given the tones used by Maramotti. In the institutions and not only there is still strong hope that the 'Made in Reggio' giant will reconsider.

The meeting lasted several hours and there was no shortage of efforts to find a formula that accommodated everyone's thoughts: the common intention to maintain relations with Max Mara, in the end, overcame the differences. Italia Viva, Psi and +Europa (in fact the hardest part to 'smooth out') yesterday however considered it "necessary to further clarify our position": "It is time to take a step further, in the institutional relations between the Municipality and the company". While setting aside the "out of place" interventions of other political forces, including those of the centre-left, in Parliament as much as in the 'discordant' municipal council that represented the breaking point for Maramotti, "we reiterate the need to give priority to the strategic project for the ex-Fiere area, starting from the recovery of institutional relations".

Finally, the nudge to Massari: "Now that he has a full mandate from all political forces - they specify - we ask the mayor to take proactive actions in order to reopen the discussion and consequently understand if and how to reschedule the investment in the Fashion Center". On the one hand, therefore, the request to the mayor to have more of a grip, on the other, the 'second round' announced by the coalition: a new summit in the fall "to examine in depth the state of implementation of the mandate program". With Cantiergiani's entry into the cabinet office, the pressure around Massari tightens even more.

An aspect that has not escaped Fratelli d'Italia: "The Municipality is treated as an extension of the PD, a placement agency for party loyalists" says the group leader in the council, Cristian Paglialonga. A "consolidated strategy", he adds, through which "former councilors, former managers and collaborators of the PD regularly find space in the public galaxy without open discussion or transparent selections". The logic, adds councilor Letizia Davoli, "is always that of maintaining control and guaranteeing the survival of one's own network of power. It is a method that offends the dignity of the institutions and tramples on the principle of fairness". "Not only - he concludes - after the Max Mara case, looking at the positions assigned to Cantergiani, it is a move that smacks of the party appointing a commissioner to the mayor".
